Description

A system for interface conversion from PCI-X (64-bit 133MHz) to PCI Express (Gen1 4-lane).

Any PCI-X (64-bit 133MHz) device can be attached to the bridge card of the system. The bridge card performs protocol conversion from PCI-X to PCI Express (with the help of PLX Technology's PLX8114 bridge chip), and then, the converted data is sent through the PCI Express External Cable to the host computer. The host computer receives data using the host interface card installed into its PCI Express I/O slot.

A system containing eight G9XE boards. The boards are stored into a dedicated chassis with a power supply unit, cooling fans, and a temperature sensor.

The host computer used for the measurement is a Lenovo ideapad S10e (Atom N270/1.6GHz, 945GSE Express). The evaluation board and the interface logic are of Altera ArriaGX Development Kit.
The write performance is for direct memory access (DMA) read from the board to the host computer. The read performance is for DMA write from the board to the host computer.
